Spring Select Soccer

Soccer is a Spring sport too! The Beautiful Game can be played all-year-round!

We proudly participate in a Spring league (February through May) with several other local clubs, that league is commonly referred to as "Spring Select." Spring Select allows players of all ages (U6-U19) and skill levels an opportunity to keep their soccer fire burning throughout the year with an organized schedule of 10+ games, an end-of-season tournament, and the experience of playing in nearby cities and with new opponents.

Spring teams are divided into two divisions -- one for Recreation players; one for All Star and Signature players. Players of all ages (U6-U19) are welcome to register as we are attempting to field teams in both divisions at every age. OJSC creates Spring Select teams in partnership with our approved coaches. So, the more coaches we have, the more teams we can have. So PLEASE apply to coach a team TODAY! In 2009 we fielded nearly 20 teams and had another fabulous Spring season and we are looking to grow the program with some innovations to our team formation and training program.

Spring Select is just one of the many programs we have at Orange Junior Soccer Club. We invite you to explore our entire site and learn about how we have a program for every player, all year long!

If you are interested in playing on a 2010 Spring team, please be sure to read on:

  1. Any player desiring to participate on a Spring Select team can register to play. Players compete at their 2009-2010 playing age (same as Fall 2009). If a player does not register for Spring Select, he/she cannot play in any Spring game.

  2. OJSC Registration cost is $75. Additional costs, which will be collected by the team, will include uniform (if necessary), JUSA team registration ($200-$450 per team depending on age of team) and referee fees. Teams may use their Fall uniforms or purchase new ones.

  3. There is no OJSC sponsorship requirement however teams are welcome to fundraise on their own (i.e., no money flows through OJSC) to cover these additional costs.

  4. All player registrations can be hand-delivered to Lamppost Pizza (i.e., no specific registration dates) at your convenience. Check the Downloads page for specific information on how to register.

  5. Registration will run from January 25 through February 15. The earlier you register, the quicker we can form teams.

  6. Once registration is complete, we will determine whether we have enough players for a team, whether we have a coach for the team, and if not whether we can place players on established teams.

  7. If there are any players that cannot be placed on a team we will issue a 100% refund to them by March 15. There are no refunds for players that decline to play on the team which they are placed or otherwise have a change of heart regarding participating in Spring Select.

  8. Practices begin February 15 or as soon thereafter as possible based on team formation.

  9. Games are scheduled (mostly Saturdays) from March 13 to May 22. No games Easter Weekend, Mother's Day or Memorial Day weekend.

  10. There are few, if any, game conflicts with 4v4. We'll work to address any conflicts. If you have not already registered for 4v4, check it out!

  11. There is a Recreation bracket and a Gold bracket (for All Star and Signature teams). Signature teams also have the option of participating in Cal South Spring Signature League.

  12. U8 and older teams play against teams from neighboring cities (Anaheim, Brea, Yorba Linda, Placentia, etc.). U6 teams can play Spring Select too but are probably best suited for 4v4.

If you are interested in coaching a 2010 Spring team, or if you need additional Spring Select info, please contact Jim Watson via our Contacts page.

  1. Coaches may select their entire roster. If a coach needs players to complete the team, OJSC will help find players. Coaches, please note that if a player needs a team to play on, we WILL place them on your team.

  2. Interested coaches must contact Jim Watson via our Contacts page as soon as possible. There is no “team application” or “coach application.” Every player must register individually within the designated timeframe (January 25 through February 15). We will work with the coaches to confirm rosters.

  3. Recreation coaches should visit www.jusa.org for more information. Signature coaches can participate either in JUSA's program or Calsouth's Spring Signature program. Visit www.calsouth.com for more information.

  4. Coaches will be responsible for (a) selecting which program -- JUSA or Calsouth -- the team participates in; (b) completing the appropriate application for the selected program; (c) collecting all fees necessary for team management other than the OJSC $75 registration fee.

  5. Teams will be assigned practice field space. We will work to accommodate your date/time requests but there are no guarantees.
